Missoni

Missoni is an Italian fashion house headquartered in Varese. The company is famous for the colorful designs of its knitwear. The company was founded in 1953 by Ottavio “Tai” and Rosita Missoni.

The business began when Atavio and Rozita Missoni set up a small knitting workshop in Gallarate, near Rozita’s village. They released their first collection under the Missoni brand in 1958. With the support of Anna Piagi, fashion critic for Arianna magazine, their business flourished.

In the early 1970s, Missoni reached its peak of influence in the fashion world. Tai Missoni also worked on other projects such as costume design for La Scala opera, carpets and curtains. Rosita Missoni lost interest in fashion in the 1990s and was replaced in 1998 by her daughter Angela, after which Rosita took over the leadership of Missoni Home.

Home is one of Rozita’s main interests. The styles and choices behind the Missoni Home project that have transformed it from fabric to furniture over the years. With the spirit of a structure that is always evolving.
